If you are lazy, and use Mac OS X this is a nice regex widget (scroll about 1/2 way down): http://robrohan.com/projects/widgets/
It's nice to have a regexp tester that's just one key stroke away. Not quite as fancy as that one though. Good find.
Regular expression is really wonderful to parsing HTML or matching pattern. I use this a lot when i code. Actually when I learn any new langauge, first of all I first try whether it supports regex or not. I feel ezee when I found that.
