Mickelson wins at Pebble Beach

Great victory for Phil Mickelson this week at Pebble Beach, tying the record at -20 and winning by 5 shots.

Couldn't happen to a classier guy. The following is a great story by former Chicago Tribune writer, Bob Verdi:

I couldn't agree more. I was able to go to the US Open 2 years ago in Pinehurst, and after one of his practice rounds, he signed autographs, on the course, for about an hour. One thing I noticed was that he really seemed to be enjoying that time, with his fans. He gets it. He understands that he would not be doing what he does were it not for the fans.

As an avid golfer and golf fan, I also enjoy the way he plays, with almost reckless abandon. Granted, that cost him the US Open last year, but if he didn't hit driver on the 72nd hole, it wouldn't be Phil.
